HONORABLE MENTIONS
QUARTERBACKS
This is a pretty short list. Van Buren has been steadily improving each week but the next three weeks bring no fantasy worthy match-ups. He should have a bright future next season so he brings added fantasy value in dynasty, keeper, and Campus 2 Canton leagues. Rizk jumped into the starting QB role and put up 32 fantasy points last week. You can wait to pick him up since he doesn’t have a good fantasy match-up until week 13 against West Virginia.
RUNNING BACKS
The NC State running game is hard to get a handle on but Smothers looks like the best candidate moving forward, we’ll just need to see if he can maintain 15+ carries/game. Booth has been playing well and has an okay match-up with Missouri in Week 13. Daniels stepped in for an injured Le’Veon Moss last week. Moss’ knee injury doesn’t look to be as severe as initially thought. You could grab Daniels now with the hopes that Moss is still sidelined for the Week 12 match-up against New Mexico State. Frazier and Thomas also stepped into larger roles in their offenses due to injury. Neither have good fantasy match-ups over the next few weeks so they should be considered players to monitor.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Marsh has been quietly building up his target share and provides the best TDs/game on this list (tied with Jones). I’ve loved Lassiter for weeks now and he should be a playable asset against Kansas and Arizona State. Jones’ stats are held back due to a 1 target for no receptions game last week. He’s the best pass catcher on the team but his fantasy value is going to change from week to week based on how good the opposing team’s rush defense is.
TIGHT ENDS
Roush, Duff, and Latu are the only guys on this list that have fantasy worthy match-ups over the next few weeks. This is a rough group and most players should be considered players to monitor.

QUARTERBACKS
Current Week Match-Up Targets
I give Houser the edge over Petras here due to a higher PPG over the last three weeks and Petras is working to find a new playmaker at the WR position. Leavitt could be a good floor play this week but the running game will steal scoring opportunities in that game.
Volume Workload Targets
Would you believe an Eastern Michigan QB would have the highest workload out of this group? Synder and McCown are pretty reliable for high workload. Kitna is coming off a career day, scoring 45 fantasy points. He will continue to get better but probably not reach that fantasy point total again. Joseph continues to provide a good mix of passing and rushing opportunities with him and Synder as the top two rushing QBs on this list.
Playoff Match-Up Targets
I’m a big fan of Petras, Houser, and Snyder for the playoff run. I like Houser best due to him being the most reliable right now. Snyder would be my next choice for his dual-threat ability, followed by Petras. If Petras can find a consistent threat at WR he will be even more valuable. Criswell has a good schedule but is my least favorite as I like Leavitt’s passing ability more.
RUNNING BACKS
Current Week Match-Up Targets
Bennett and Gilliam are the best floor plays for this week. Sanders has been hot and Jackson has the highest workload of this group – so they’re also good options. Joiner has been scoring a lot but I’m a but uneasy about his match-up with Navy. Young and Marhsall both have good match-ups but they are in a league of their own at the bottom of this list.
Volume Workload Targets
Jackson is definitely the volume king of this group. Young and Marshall get a good workload but along with Jackson, these three just can’t figure out how to score on a regular basis. Washington has seen his carry amount rise from 10, to 17, to 26 over the last three games. He has the best TDs/game of this group and is my top volume player to target. Bullock is averaging 17.5 carries and 121 yards per game over the last two weeks but this coaching staff doesn’t seem to like keeping consistent workloads going for their RBs. Henderson can be streaky and should only be used on very good fantasy match-ups. Sanders exploded for 200 yards and 2 TDs last week. In the two games before that he was still averaging 17 PPG. The most carries Bennett has had in the last three weeks is 13, making him a high risk/high reward asset. Green is at the bottom of the list because three weeks ago he only received 6 carries. Since then he is averaging 19.5 carries/game and he is in my top 3 of this group of waiver wire targets.
Playoff Match-Up Targets
There are a lot of good fantasy match-ups for these guys. The split carry situations at South Alabama, Georgia State, and Troy should be noted as it may be hard to predict if these players will maintain their current workloads. Bennett is an exception in my eyes because he has found ways to put up fantasy points on a small workload all year when he’s been healthy. Joiner is a good sneaky pick and I think we’ll see his ownership rate go over 30% very soon.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Current Week Match-Up Targets
I really like the top five players in this group and feel like the players below them bring a much higher risk level to the table this week. You should really focus on any of the top five as a priority if you’re in need of a spot-start option with week. Don’t let Johnson’s low PPG deter you from picking him up. He only played two games over the last three weeks, and over his last four games is averaging 15.4 PPG (which includes one stinker game). Davis will continue to be a great fantasy option as long as Luke Wysong is still out of action so watch player news closely.
Volume Workload Targets
That is a whole bunch of dudes that are averaging 8+ targets/game over the last three weeks. If you want to bet on volume you’ll have plenty of guys to choose from. Some of my favorites are Tyson, Edwards, Rivers, Davis (watch for Wysong’s return), Walker, Lockhart, Carpenter (watch for McCuin’s return), Shanks, Sowell, and Lemon. The good news about this many options is that you can afford to schedule match the weeks your roster has weak spots and not just have one or two guys to choose from.
Playoff Match-Up Targets
Going back to my last comment in the workload volume section, there are TONS of options you can schedule match with for the playoffs. I like to find a good mixture of targets and TDs/game when narrowing down my list of guys I might need for a particular week.
TIGHT ENDS
Current Week Match-Up Targets
I’m not very excited about this list of targets to be honest. Boston College has been utilizing two TEs effectively which adds risk that Morales may not get his usually target share. While I have Matavao listed second, I’m not a big fan of UCLA’s chances against Iowa. Taylor and Gosnell are probably the best floor plays here with Morales and Simon being the best “boom or bust” plays.
Volume Workload Targets
I’ve been on the Gyllenborg train for a while now and he is still my favorite volume option due to his consistency. Thomas is intriguing and would probably be my second choice as the UTSA passing game is red hot right now. Nebraska is playing like crap lately which turns me off of Fidone. Morris has just come on these last two games and if you want to put your trust in the Temple offense, then Morris is worth a shot.
Playoff Match-Up Targets
I’ve touched on all of these guys already in this article. I like Gyllenborg and Taylor the best of this group. I give Morris a slight edge over Morales. I want to see Simon get another game with 50 yards receiving and a TD before I start to put my trust in him.
Need TE for playoffs: Mason Taylor, Jack Endries or Gunner Helm ?
With Royals out just how good can Rashul Faison be down the stretch?
